Tariel as a world is still mostly unexplored. It is believed that only a very small fraction of the world has currently been mapped.
As it is of this current age, Tariel's known world consists of six continents, several isles and vast oceans dividing them. Here great kingdoms and powerful nations thrive in both peace and in war.
The most commonly known written works regarding Tariel's history and timeline are mainly based off of human scribes and historians. Because of this, the timeline was created with the focus on human origins and civilizations. Yet still, some works of elven, dwarven and orcish literature are existent in the modern-world timeline.
There has always been a magnificent multitude of various races and cultures existent in Tariel. The most common race known to this day and age is the race of Man, which dominates the majority of the world's explored continents. Apart from humans, Tariel hosts societies of elves, orcs, dwarves, halflings, goblins, planeborn and several other races, some of which still remain to be discovered.
In a world such as Tariel, great kings and mighty civilizations have come and gone. Breakthrough discoveries of technology and the birth of gods and religions have risen throughout history. As it stands, Tariel has been around for a long time, and in its time of existence, it has born fruits to both magnificent things and terrible evils.
